10/2/2023 0 Comments Cutting moments dvd cover![]() Any lead character who uses lines like "let's go be insane and awesome" or "It's over for me kid but not for you, you can still be free, you can still be cool" has got to be good. The strength of Principles of Karma is not special affects, gore or guts but inspirational speeches and perfectly delivered rants. Anyone who was an angst ridden teenager growing up in sterile suburbia can probably identify with the concept of the Youth Liberation front and their charismatic cigar smoking leader. Now I may be guilty of throwing the word around too much, but this truly is a work of genius. ![]() The other film worth mentioning is the teen-classic 'Principles of Karma'. Director Casey Kehoe should be mighty proud of this masterpiece and although I've never actually cared enough to look myself - I'm sure a quick search on IMDB will reveal the glistening Hollywood career which must've followed. What could be better? The script is genius, the acting is hilarious and the tension is unbearable. Cutting moments itself is a skin crawling and genuinely disturbing film worthy of being the show stopper, however there are a couple of gems on this disk not to forget.ĬrackDog is a 5 minute short with a simple concept, it's about a pooch who gets hooked on the pipe. This DVD is a completion of five low budget movies which culminate in the title short 'cutting moments'. PS: Due to the rating system on Amazon I have to give it one star-under protest. So we sat for a minute or so afterwards and herself turned to me and said "You can always give it to a charity shop"īut I don't have the heart or cheek to unload it onto some other poor sod so it's going on a bonfire sometime soon Certainly not visually gory, just the idea of it all I sat with my legs crossed, to herself's amusement. The middle three segments of this were like thatĪnd as for the "talked about" last segment? Well, I watched it with my girlfriend, and male and female mutilation would, I guess, make most people squirm. Some of those were dreadful and should never have seen the light of day. What struck me was it all reminded me of old TV episodes of "Creepshow" or "Talks from the Crypt". The first, with the coked up drug dog, was quite light hearted and amusing for its 5 mins odd running time but that was it The stories don't really need mentioning, you can find out about them in other reviews. Probably the worst film I've ever seen.and Lord knows I've seen some dross that was highly rated by others. ![]() If your looking to be disturbed, try watching the final segment on its own, if on the other hand your looking for an entertaining little film, full of creative ideas and a lot of wit watch this film as a whole and proceed with caution to the final segment. Being low budget, the acting isnt always from the top drawer, but all the segments are enjoyable and never outlive their welcome. In 'Crack Dog' a pooch acquires its masters addiction, in 'Don't Nag Me' an Army vet is henpecked from beyond the grave by the wife he's just offed, in 'Bowl Of Oatmeal' a socially isolated man is goaded by a wisecracking bowl of porridge in his dingly flat and in 'Principles Of Karma' an alenated teen's life is transformed when he meets a revolutionary cable guy. The preceeding segments are all enjoyable, most darkly comic in tone. Well, he must have been referring to the final, title segment which certainly stays with you for some time after you've seen it. This film is described as 'the most disturbing film I've seen' by Tom Savini on the front cover.
